Frequently Asked Questions

Game Art Freelancing Services

What is Banana Eating Solutions?

We are a freelance game art company that also provides services in the form of game art consultation.

We are owned by Vejigante Games.

What sort of services do you sell at Banana Eating Solutions?

We are proud to provide Game Art Freelance services as well as Game Art Consultation services.

What are your professional qualifications?

I have been a game artist for 13+ years professionally, and for a few years before that on student game teams.

I have released games on every major platform (PC, Console, Mobile), worked with a variety of team sizes (from 3 to 300).

I’ve worked everything from Indie Games to AAA, and in many different game genres.

You can check out my work history at LinkedIn, our artwork at ArtStation, and view a summary of our Professional History for more information.

Do you have a specialty?

I have worked as a 3D Generalist for most of my career, and I am super passionate about props, weapons and character cosmetics. All in all, I understand pretty well the full art stack.

(Please check out a full list of my skills in the Game Art Services Section.)

Please check out the recommendations on my LinkedIn for more information about what it’s like to work with me.

How can I hire you?

Let’s start a conversation by booking a free 15 minute talk with me to discuss your project needs.

Do you like to work with Indie Developers?

I have worked on Indie games in the past and would love to help you complete your next project!

How should I hire you? Hourly, or with a Retainer?

My suggestion is that we commit to working with each other for a couple weeks.

If it’s a fit, then we’ll figure out what solution works best for you.

Please see more information please check out our Pricing Page.

Could you tell me more about hiring you on Retainer?

When hired as a retainer, I am all but an official employee.

You pay me for the month in advance, and you can call on me like a regular 40-hour employee.

Retainer service is only currently available on a monthly basis.

What if we decide to part ways mid-project?

I hope to keep our payment arrangement as flexible as possible, within reason, and I offer an at-will working policy.

For Hourly: You will be billed for any previously agreed-upon work, and billed any hours left unpaid. Payment must be made within 30 days.

Undelivered work that is not paid for will not be delivered.

Any clients that leave work unpaid will not be considered for any future work.

Any paid-for and undelivered assets will be turned in Within 30 days, after the final payment is delivered.

For Retainer Work: If at any point we decide to part ways, you will be refunded the pro-rated amount based on uncompleted time.

If you decided to part ways, I will round up for the last day and subtract the unworked days from any pre-paid funds.

What is Vejigante Games?

When I decided to start working on my microbusiness, I wanted to choose a name that reflected my future aspirations.

I want to make and release my own solo video game projects in a few years, and so I named my company after my favorite type of mask. This mask won out against other intense competition in my life.

Vejigante Games is the legal name for the business we do at Banana Eating Solutions, and the future home of my solo game studio.

Game Art Consultation Services

Why are you doing Game Art Consultation Services?

I’ve been in the games industry a long time, and have worked on lots of different projects.

I found that smaller projects seemed to struggle to hire experienced artists, and often grappled with 3D art-related problems.

We’d like to provide smaller companies access to an experienced game artist on the cheap, and on-demand, without much fuss.

What sort of advice do you give during consultations?

During our 15-minute conversation, you introduce me briefly to your project and explain your project needs.

Following that meeting, if both parties agree, I will be available to engage you in either hourly work, or a monthly retainer.

Alternatively, if I am not fit for the work, I will refer you to some personal and professional resources I may have available to complete your project goal needs.

What sort of consultation sessions do you have available?

For first time customers, I offer a free 15-Minute Consultation.

For returning customers, I offer 30-, 60- and 120-Minute consultation appointments.

Game Art Guidance Counselling Sessions

What is a Game Art Guidance Counselor?

I am providing access to free chats for kids ages 9-17 and their parent/guardian(s) with questions regarding game art and game development.

Why did you decide to start Game Guidance Counselor Sessions?

My Aunt Linda was a Guidance Counselor for most of her professional career, and I thought providing informal chats about game art would be a nice way to give back to people like me who lacked these resources growing up.

As a parent, it gives me great joy to help other children in the world find their dreams.

Do you have any goals for the Game Guidance Counselor Sessions?

I’d love to recruit more disciplines in game art and development to volunteer their time to talk to kids about their specific mastery. For now, it’s just me and just game art.

Do these sessions come with any guarantees?

As these sessions are informal, voluntary and provided free of charge, there are no guarantees for the efficacy of the advice given. I cannot formally provide any legal, financial or professional advice.

That said, I hope to provide a resource I did not have growing up: giving future game devs an easy way to ask questions about being in games.
